The Shrine of Remembrance - Melbourne
The Shrine of Remembrance is committed to fostering relevant learning experiences for Victorian students that develop an understanding of Australian service and sacrifice in war and peacekeeping. It is the mission of Shrine Trustees that every Victorian student visits the Shrine of Remembrance at least once during their primary years and once during their secondary years. The Shrine of Remembrance is an ideal educational setting for students to undertake programs that encourage remembrance of our veterans, their service to Australia and their legacy of nationhood – the ANZAC spirit.
Through its new Education Centre, the Shrine offers interactive and dynamic programs for Prep to VCE. Programs are VELS-based and have a strong focus on Civics and Citizenship and the National Framework for Values Education. Programs take between 1.5 to 2 hours and incorporate a Service of Remembrance in the Shrine Sanctuary. Bookings are essential: 9661 8113 or education@shrine.org.au . You can visit www.shrine.org.au for more information or to download materials.
Travel Assistance is available, for schools who qualify, to participate in programs. This assistance, facilitated by the Shrine, is generously provided by the Department of Infrastructure, through Metlink, to encourage awareness and safe use of public transport. You can find out more by visiting www.doi.vic.gov.au . To see if your school qualifies, contact our education team.
